"Thinking for the Next Generation" – For the Buonadonna Group, this is not just a slogan but an active commitment to sustainability. The Group has launched a large-scale green fleet upgrade initiative, planning to put 100 brand-new Scania trucks meeting Euro 5 emission standards into operation by November 2025.

Currently, 47 Euro 5 trucks are already in service, while the remaining vehicles still comply with the older Euro 3 standard—a situation that is rapidly changing. This upgrade is not just about meeting emission regulations; it reflects the company’s dedication to environmental responsibility and its leadership in driving the industry’s green transformation.

In an interview with South African Trucking, the Buonadonna Group stated: “While we believe in technological innovation, we are also actively committed to environmental protection.”

Unlike refurbishing old vehicles, the Group has opted for direct investment in new trucks, a key part of its three-year green transition strategy. To meet Euro 5 standards, the company has gradually equipped its fleet depots and transport routes with AdBlue (diesel exhaust fluid) systems. Additionally, with Scania’s support, the Group has completed specialized training for drivers and maintenance teams.

“The biggest challenge right now is organizing weekly driver training and ensuring a stable nationwide supply of AdBlue,” the company added. “Fortunately, Scania and our partner suppliers have provided strong support, ensuring smooth logistics operations.”

This year marks the Buonadonna Group’s 40th anniversary, and this green upgrade serves as a declaration to the industry: The transport sector must think long-term and strive for a cleaner, more sustainable future.

“While we can’t transform the entire industry alone, every effort counts,” the Group emphasized.

Moving forward, more eco-friendly trucks will hit the roads, and the Buonadonna Group hopes to inspire more fleets to join the sustainable transport movement.
